TOKYO – Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Kunio Suzuki) today announced that MOL was listed on the FTSE 4 Good Global Index, which is published by FTSE, a global index company that is a joint venture between the Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange. The index selects and rates corporations on three aspects – environmental sustainability, relationships with stakeholders, and human rights, and MOL appeared on the September 22 issuance. Altogether, 839 corporations worldwide are listed on the index; 88 are Japanese.
MOL holds up customer satisfaction, contribution to the world economic growth, transparent and ethical management based on the highest ethical and social standards, and protection of the marine and global environments as its Group Corporate Principles. MOL also holds corporate social responsibility as its basic principle. In April 2003, MOL organized a CSR Subcommittee, which was charged with oversight of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its methods of contributing to society, and with devising policies and programs that cut across departmental lines. As a global corporate citizen, MOL will continue to strive to maintain the proper balance of concerns for the environment, society, and the individual.
