TOKYO – Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Kunio Suzuki) today announced the establishment of the MOL(Vietnam) Co., Ltd. (MOLVINA), headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City. The new company will start operation in December.
MOL has established subsidiaries in major cities all over the world to improve customer service and promote the development of a global network. In Vietnam, where the economy has shown tremendous growth, the company in February 2003 appointed Vietnam Japan Trading and Container Service Co., Ltd. (VIJACONT) as its agent. VIJACONT is a private company that holds shipping agency and logistics-related licenses. The establishment of MOLVINA will help MOL tailor services to local and regional needs, while building awareness of the MOL brand.
MOLVINA has taken over the organization of VIJACONT and increased its paid-in capital as well as the number of employees, and plans to further strengthen its service structure. Besides the Head Office (Ho Chi Minh City), MOLVINA has branches in Hanoi, Haiphong, Danang, and Quy Nhon, all linked in real time to MOL’s STARNET liner service system by high-speed line. As one of the few logistics companies in Vietnam that have local leased lines, MOLVINA will enhance customer services and strengthen cost competitiveness.
