TOKYO - Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Kunio Suzuki) today announced the development of the STARLINK information system to promote the expansion of the company's logistics business.
MOL has been expanding its range of logistics services under the single brand name of "MOL Logistics." MOL understands that information is the key to helping customers manage the supply chain for their merchandise, from the point of origin to the distribution center. STARLINK is an MOL-developed system that meets customer needs with real-time Web tracking capability and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). STARLINK's main features are as follows:
STARLINK manages purchase order activities for customers and provides Track and Trace by P.O. number, item number, and Stock Keeping Unit (SKU). Purchase order information includes but not limited to P.O. number, item number, P.O. issue date, In-DC date, shipper, consignee, port of origin, terms of sale, destination, order quantity, unit cost, and so on.
STARLINK also maintains user-defined key activities (events) for each purchase order. The system can also receive event information from a customer's designated third-party or fourth-party logistics provider via direct Web input or EDI.
Landed cost information from other services providers, such as destination customs brokers and other transportation companies, can be received in STARLINK via direct Web input or EDI.
