TOKYO - Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Akimitsu Ashida) today announced that all of the company's terminals in Japan have received Japanese government approval for their Port Facility Security Plans (PFSPs). The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MILT) approved PFSPs for Tokyo International Container Terminal, Yokohama International Container Terminal, Osaka International Container Terminal, and Kobe International Container Terminal.
The revised International Convention for the Security of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and the International Vessel and Port Security (ISPS) code - as well as corresponding Japanese laws -- will come into effect on July 1.
These laws require certain international port facilities to have national government-approved PFSPs in place and to take the security measures in line with respective security levels.
