SEOUL, SINGAPORE, TOKYO - The New World Alliance (TNWA), which consists of APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), is increasing its coverage in China with the addition of a weekly port call in Xiamen on its China-Europe Express (CEX) service.
On January 5, 2002 the APL Garnet will sail into the Port of Xiamen en route to Yantian for the first time as part of the CEX.
The CEX is the Alliance's express service for China-Europe shipments. The service features a transit time of only 22 days from Xiamen to Southampton. The revised rotation of the CEX will be Shanghai, Xiamen, Yantian, Hong Kong, Singapore, Colombo, Southampton, Antwerp, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Aden, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
APL Senior Vice President of North Asia, Brian Lutt comments, "With this welcome additional call at Xiamen, we are able to offer our customers yet another direct China port call in terms of our Asia-Europe coverage. The move maintains our policy of continually enhancing our service offering in China and of extending our customers' options when they ship with us."

The New World Alliance operates multiple fixed-day, weekly services between North Europe and Asia, including a fixed-day weekly service dedicated to the Med-Asia trade, trans-Pacific, and trans-Atlantic trades. The three-member carriers co-ordinate some 100 containerships in these major container trades.
